Waxing: A Good Solution?

Although there are almost only advantages, there are still some disadvantages to waxing. This is because if it is not applied properly, hairs can grow under the skin, causing ingrown hairs.

Waxing is one of the most used methods against the hair war! This technique simply consists of extracting the hair from the follicle, under the skin.

Despite the many solutions that exist to get rid of body hair, waxing seems to be the most popular because its results are long-lasting and its application is rather simple.

Applying wax

The wax must be melted before application, then spread on the skin. You must then wait a few seconds for it to harden.

Then, using a special tape, it is enough to pull sharply towards the opposite direction of the hair growth to remove the tape.

The temperature of the wax should not exceed 42ยบ C, as this material immediately melts and could cause burns to the skin.

The waxing technique depends on the type of hair and its growth. However, we recommend that you use it every three weeks and do not immediately expose your skin to the sun or apply products containing irritants.

After waxing, the skin may turn red, itchy, and even painful. This is a completely normal reaction. However, there are creams designed to soothe the skin within minutes of waxing.

Pay close attention to hygiene and the quality of the products offered by beauty centers that offer waxing.

This advice also applies at home! Disinfect the utensils you use and clean your skin before waxing. This will prevent infections or minor accidents.

The pros and cons

There are different types of skin, and the results of waxing are not the same for everyone. On the other hand, this technique has both advantages and disadvantages.

Benefits

  • The wax allows a long lasting result. Indeed, it is enough to apply it once or twice a month maximum. This technique allows the skin to rest so that the hairs grow back without cutting interruptions as in the case of a shaving, which also irritates the skin.
  • The wax leaves the skin soft and silky.  The hairs are removed at the root for a flawless result.
  • It is also an economical and efficient method that can be used almost endlessly. Hot, warm or cold wax, suitable for different skin types, etc. There is something for every taste !

The inconvenients

  • Waxing can be very painful for some people. However, you should know that the skin gets used to being regularly shaved over time. The pain thus becomes more and more bearable.
  • This technique can also cause hair to grow backwards or under the skin if the wax strip is not removed properly. In some people, it can also cause irritation or allergies.
  • If you have extremely sensitive skin, pulling the wax strip sharply may cause small bruises on the skin.

A few tips
