Fight Sleep Apnea With 5 Natural Remedies

We can use certain remedies that help us relax our throats in order to reduce the incidence of sleep apnea. However, if apnea occurs in the usual way, it is essential to consult a specialist.

Sleep apnea is a common disorder that occurs when breathing stops, or becomes shallow due to a narrowing or partial blockage of the airways. These breaks can last from a few seconds to a few minutes, and typically occur 30 times per hour.
After these pauses, breathing returns to normal. It is often accompanied by snoring or the emission of a choking sound.

The people most prone to sleep apnea are those who are overweight and obese. However, it is also common in patients with respiratory diseases, tonsillitis and in tobacco smokers.

Aspects to consider

  • In the event that the doctor allows you to consume these natural remedies, try to exercise moderation and not neglect the practice of other good lifestyle habits.

How to treat sleep apnea?

The best way to treat sleep apnea properly is to follow your doctor’s instructions. Keep in mind that while natural remedies can help provide relief in some cases, they will never replace medical treatment as such.

The MSD manual explains that to treat obstructive sleep apnea,  your doctor may give you a device called “continuous positive airway pressure” to help you breathe at night. Sometimes the device may be sufficient, but in other cases it will be necessary to implement other measures.
